Feature artist, Libby Hunter
Step into the rich colours, textures and shifting moods of Far North Queensland through the work of Libby Hunter, Crystalbrook Baileys feature artist for August and September 2026.
Libby's exhibition Emergent Layers will be on display in the Crystalbrook Bailey lobby from 3 August until 27 September 2026. Inspired by the rainforest bordering her home near the Kuranda Range and Macalister National Park, the exhibition explores the beauty, power and constant transformation of the natural world.
Through expressive paintings and sculptural works, Libby captures landscapes that are both familiar and deeply personal. Her work reflects the ever-changing rhythms of the rainforest, from its quiet moments to its untamed energy, inviting viewers to pause and experience nature through her eyes.
Meet the artist
Originally from Melbourne, Libby relocated to Cairns five years ago, where the tropical landscape has become the driving force behind her artistic practice. Working across painting, sculpture and printmaking, she continues to experiment with new materials and techniques, creating works that reflect both the physical landscape and her personal connection to it. Her work has been exhibited throughout Queensland and recognised by the Cairns Art Society Annual Awards.
