Our top tips for a Paw-fect pet friendly Cairns holiday

Pack your pooch and get ready for a paw fect trip to Cairns. Whether you’re a local, first timer or tropical regular, there is plenty of places for our four legged friends to stretch their legs in the sun. Explore a weekend away in Tropical North Queensland that will get your tail wagging.

1. Adventure to local doggy wonderland, Goomboora Park

For when your paw pal wants a little adventure.  Goomboora Park is located a short drive from Cairns and is the perfect spot to play hard and keep cool splashing in the many creeks. Join the locals and unleash into some nature time. Perfect to take the kids with playgrounds, natural creeks and wide open space.

Located at: Shale Street, Brinsmead QLD 4870

2. Paws the pavement on the Cairns Esplanade

Time to leash up and hit the dog friendly walking track. For pups and owners alike, the iconic Cairns Esplanade is the perfect way to get that step count up whilst soaking up those city views.

Don’t forget to follow the rules, scoop the poop and be friendly! Find out more cairns.qld.gov.au

3. Summit Earl Hill

One paw in front of the other. This one is a little drive from the city, but great for pups - and humans - who love a challenge, and a view.

Soak up the summit with views of the Coral Sea, Double Island, Cairns and surrounds. Pup can even quench their thirst with dog bowls located on the track.

Located at: Flagship Dr, Trinity Park, QLD,4870

4. Palm tree selfie at Palm Cove

To make any city pup drool. Feel the sand between your paws at this iconic tropical location. Dog friendly beaches with a combination of on and off leash zones, Palm Cove and Cairns’ Northern Beaches offer great excursions out of town for a little palm tree action.

Unwind, chase your ball or have a swim…but be careful of crocodiles.
