Live fire, a little salt air, the fundamentals at heart. 

Matines is a coastal Australian bar and grill on the top floor of 15 Halifax Street, Adelaide that celebrates live fire, elemental cooking, and the fundamentals done right, with views across the city and the River Torrens below.  

Our kitchen runs on coal and conviction. SA seafood, produce from farms worth knowing by name, a wine list that travels through time from the Adelaide Hills to the Spanish coast. The bread is fermented.  

The salts are house-made. The details, taken care of. 

Thoughtfully designed, the generous room boasts many moods at one address – intended to be moved through, lingered in and returned to. 

Matines is for the long lunch that earns its hours and the dinner that needed a reservation.  
In between, there's the quick drink that turns into the whole evening, the table by the window that becomes yours, the finisher by the fire. 

Come for the grill, stay for the nine-metre bar, linger by the fire. The view is complimentary.
