Shine On Gimuy
Running from 16 to 26 October, Shine On Gimuy is a vibrant celebration of First Nations storytelling through art, music and culture. The festival kicks off with the Calling Country Opening Ceremony on 16 October, a powerful gathering hosted by the Gimuy Walubara Yidinji peoples. That evening also marks the start of the Artstory Light Walk, which lights up the Esplanade each night with captivating installations, sculptures and soundscapes inspired by the colours and natural beauty of Tropical North Queensland.
Throughout the festival, there are a range of events to explore. The First Nations Summit on 17 October brings together leading thinkers, cultural leaders and changemakers for discussions on sovereignty, Country, leadership and the future. Meanwhile, the Blak Markets run from 16 to 19 October, celebrating the creativity and craftsmanship of First Nations and Bama artisans, craftspeople and businesses.
Shine On Gimuy offers something for everyone, providing a powerful and immersive insight into the stories, culture and voices of First Nations peoples.
