Brothers-in-law Daniel Chaffey Hartwig and Theo Engela are the latest generation of the Chaffey family to ply their vinous trade in Australia. The original Chaffey brothers (Canadian hydroengineers) were true iconoclasts. They arrived in Australia in 1886 and proceeded (along with a number of their descendants) to make an indelible mark on the Australian wine landscape.
Since launching in 2011, our handmade minimal intervention wines have hailed from individual
parcels of low yielding vines spread throughout the Barossa and Eden Valleys. Drawing on the
diverse geologies of 15 different Barossa sub-regions, we see our role as part parfumier (discovering
delicate aromatics), part historian (preserving the purity of pristine fruit) and part mad scientist
(revelling in the lost art of small batch blending). We are now joined by young gun winemaker Huon
Fechner, who comes from one of our champion grape growing families here in the region.
All our wines use minimal sulphides and are 100% unfined, making them
naturally vegan friendly and scrumptiously textural
