Brett Whiteley Studio 

Nestled between Crown and Bourke Street, The Brett Whiteley Studio in Surry Hills transports visitors into the mind, studio and home of renowned Australian artist Brett Whiteley. 

The studio and exhibition space, now managed and preserved by the Art Gallery of NSW, was originally purchased by Whiteley in 1985 and used until his passing in 1992. The gallery allows art lovers to explore his unfinished paintings, art equipment, reference books and personal memorabilia, including his sketchbooks, furniture, music collection and postcards. 

The studio also hosts changing exhibitions of the artist’s paintings, drawings, sculptures and graphics from the studio and private collections.

Mark Hanham Gallery

The Mark Hanham Gallery was first established in 2011 in the heart of Surry Hills, on iconic Crown Street. The gallery was designed to showcase Hanham's works—a collection of expressive landscapes and iconic urban centres created in his trademark style. 

Hanham took inspiration from his travels, Jackson Pollock's style of dripping paint and Picasso's linear soft forms, composing large-scale cityscapes of Sydney, London, Paris, New York and Melbourne.
