Five Best Coffee Stops in Byron Bay

You are very much spoilt for choice in Byron when it comes to finding a good cup of Joe. With so many great little caffeine haunts popping up in and around town, it can be difficult to decide which one to choose. Here we take the hard work out for you by selecting five of our favourites and why we love them so.

1. Bay Grocer

Bay Grocer is a gorgeous local food store, grocery and cafe smack bang in the centre of town. Serving Allpress Coffee, the cafe is open from 7am-2pm, 7 days a week. Their barista staff are super friendly and the food offering is next level. We strongly recommend trying one of their sweets with your coffee, a handmade peach danish, a delicious banana and chocolate muffin, or (and our favourite) their dulce de leche 'Alfajores' cookies (so good). If you need any groceries, you can also grab these at the same time. Bay Grocer has an impressive range of fresh produce, showcasing a lovely selection of local farms, plus take-home meals, roast chooks, gourmet dry goods, and a lovely kitchen garden out the front growing herbs such as tarragon, galangal, lemongrass, and parsley.

2. Sparrow Coffee

The very friendly team at Sparrow have three outposts, one in Byron town, one in Bangalow, and one up in Port Douglas. Being take-out only, this is coffee on the fly! They serve fresh and delicious Allpress and a small selection of cold drinks and fresh pastries
as well (if you are there early). Sparrow opens with the birds (pardon the pun) at 6:00am and closes around 2:00pm.

3. Barrio

Barrio means ‘neighbourhood eatery and bar’ in Spanish and this is exactly what this lovely dining experience in the Industrial Estate’s Habitat shopping precinct is all about. As well as delicious South American-inspired food, they serve delicious coffee by St Ali (out of Melbourne) in a super relaxed and light-filled space. There is lovely outdoor seating and a nice patch of grass if you would prefer to choose to enjoy your coffee outside. It’s really lovely here.

4. Folk Byron Bay

An absolute favourite from the moment they opened their doors, this darling little café  is tucked away off busy Ewingsdale Road, next to a caravan park, in an adorable little house. Open from 7:00am-3:30pm, the team at FOLK are all about serving good, organic, local and ethical food in a really lovely and welcoming setting. Wholefoods is the focus here and all products are made in-house. They serve coffee by Dukes Coffee Roasters and Marvell Street Coffee, and amazing teas and smoothies as well, and you can choose to enjoy your drinks inside or outside at one of the shady tables under the trees.

5. Roadhouse

Just down the road from Byron at Byron, the Roadhouse is always buzzing. Recently under new management, the team at the Roadhouse serve delicious Allpress Coffee and pastries, brekkie rolls, hearty porridge and other breakfast goodies in the morning. In
winter it is really nice to grab a table inside by the fire, but on warmer days there are plenty of big tables outside in the sun under the tress. They open nice and early (at 6:30am) and close at 2pm.
