By car

Witness the diversity and beauty of Queensland as you journey across true outback routes and through iconic towns. Travelling along roads that are unsealed dirt or gravel, you will experience true outback living and lifestyle.

As parts of the road to Crystalbrook are unsealed dirt and gravel road, we recommend travelling with a 4WD vehicle (Toyota Prado, Mitsubishi Pajero or similar) only. It is a captivating 3 hrs (180km) drive from Cairns and 2 hrs (110km) from Mareeba along the Burke Developmental Road (Wheelbarrow Way). Instructions and roadmaps are available upon request.
